Vintage Space Weather Collection (Earth Day 2021)

Below is a selection of original photographs of the Aurora Borealis (the Northern Lights) over Anchorage, Alaska (USA), and Aurora Australis (the Southern Lights) over Australia. Dates: 1977 / unknown, 35mm).

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Photo Library contains over 80,000 user-submitted images from the United States for public domain use assorted in collections focused on research, landscape, wildlife, and nature documentation in North America (primarily USA, but also globally). The Photo Library have been a service of the NOAA Central Library since 1998, and is a project of NOAA, under the U.S. Department of Commerce.
